Registration and policies

Sign in to My SAT, open the specific registration, and choose Cancel Registration. Cancel by 11:59 p.m. Eastern Time on the Thursday before testing to receive the registration-fee refund, less the applicable $34 regular or $44 late cancellation fee. After that Thursday, the registration fee is not refunded.

### Cancel the correct registration

Open [My SAT](https://mysat.collegeboard.org/), choose the registration, and use the “I would like to” menu. Review the selected test date before confirming. Canceling one registration does not cancel your other dates or reserve a future seat.

Changing a test date requires canceling and registering again. College Board allows you to register for the new date before canceling the old one; check the replacement seat before giving up the current registration.

### November 7, 2026 example

For November 7, the regular cancellation deadline is October 27. Later cancellation remains available until Thursday, November 5, at 11:59 p.m. ET, with the higher fee. Canceling on the Wednesday three days before the test falls in that later window; canceling on Friday, the day before, does not.

| When you cancel | Cancellation fee | US $68 registration example |
| --- | --- | --- |
| By October 27 | $34 | $34 after the fee |
| After October 27, by November 5 at 11:59 p.m. ET | $44 | $24 after the fee |
| After November 5 at 11:59 p.m. ET | Cancellation closed | No refund of the registration fee |

### Fee waivers, refunds, and passed dates

A fee-waiver registration has no cancellation charge, and unused waiver benefits are returned to you. For payments with other charges, review the account's refund details rather than assuming every item is refunded; rush score reports cannot be refunded.

Refunds are processed starting 3–5 business days after you cancel. The September 12 (Thursday deadline September 10) and October 3 (Thursday deadline October 1) tests are already past their cancellation windows, so neither registration can be canceled for a refund now. Cancellation of a registration is also different from canceling scores after taking a test.
